GROW 2011
Garden Railway Convention, Update # 1
Now you really have to make plans to come to the
Waikato on the 12th and 13th March 2011as we have lots of interesting
activities, visits and clinics planned. Such as, a visit to Jackson County
and an opportunity to see how the proprietors have incorporated DCC into
the Garden Railway, but with a twist. John uses a laptop with a really
nice graphics package to run his railway, and to see it all in operation
in a "live" situation, and to be able to listen and learn about how it all
goes together is simply not to be missed. Check out the picture, just a
quick glimpse of Jackson County.
Plan also to bring up some of your favourite models as
we plan to have running tracks at the venue, but more importantly we'll be
running a couple of competitions too. Firstly, a Scratch-built model
competition, and also a category for Whimsical models, and these will be
judged be a group of your peers, in other words, by popular vote, with the
results and prize giving immediately after dinner at the venue.
We have confirmed our catering for lunch's and more
importantly, Dinner too. How does a choice of hot roast beef & gravy with
hot potatoes, garlic & herb butter, vegetable medley with hollandaise
sauce, seafood Mornay, Italian meatballs with pasta sound? Followed of
course by tropical fruit salad, cheesecake or Pavlova & cream!! Like I
said, you gotta make plans to be here.
September's Garden Whistle will include a registration
form which we would appreciate returned as soon as possible as things are
really starting to hot up here.
